I hate sore throats! Sounds like you have been pretty dang busy! Maybe it is your body's way of telling you to slow down! I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off for the past month too! Last week was the first time I felt I could relax! Between promoting to a new position at work and trying to get things finalized for building my house. Now that the house plan is finalized and the builder is just waiting for permits and I have settled into the new position somewhat, life is much less stressful.

I also have a new hobby...This is the other half of my birthday gift from my wife.

It will probably take me a year or so to complete, but I figured because of to the renewed controversy surrounding AR's due to the recent mass killings. I thought I should at least get the lower before a potential ban is put into place and makes it so us law abiding citizens can't get our hands on them.

I kind of doubt any kind of ban will be put in place, at least in the near term. That is a hot potato neither party wants to touch before elections. And then, when you see that the majority of the injuries came from police fire in the Empire State shooting, you have to wonder, where does the larger danger lie?

You know you live in Colorado if you know where the real 'South Park' is.

Ah, but they excused that by saying that most of those injuries were caused by ricochets and bullet fragments, not by direct hits.

Try using that as a defense if you ever 'accidentally' injure people with bullet fragments....

I hear ya, but it was a convenient excuse to finally convince myself to "pull the trigger!"

I have a buddy that bought 3 AR-15 lowers like 2-3 years ago right before they were going to get banned then too. He paid like 200 each. Now you can still get them for 100 each. So it never helps to rush.

We bought a complete upper and assembled everything ourselfs. Most lower parts, stock, trigger, grip and everything came from amazon. still cost 900-1000.00 total with full rails, 35.00 red dot and such.

Could have bought a built one for same price or cheaper.

I didn't pay anywhere near $200 for mine. I will be able to build mine for about $150-200 less than the same one bought fully assembled. And I don't have to pony up the money all at once, I can buy a part here or there.

Glad I switched back the the old LSD additive. Truck shook horribly pulling out of the garage yesterday morning. It has slowly been getting worse. So not all LSD additives are created equal. Some don't work from the start and some don't last. For awhile, I kept thinking both front wheel bearings were going bad (that's how much vibration I was getting when turning under 20 mph). Now smooth like it's supposed to be. And I turned 126k miles yesterday. Coming up on the 8 year mark in just a few months.

Yea cheap lowers are 99.00 now, but few years back everyone thought they would ban them and prices went up.

http://www.ar15depot.com/ar15riflekits.htm

Your lucky to get out with a complete one for less then 750-800 (mags, tax, and others) if you build it cheap which we did on his (but he had 100 extra in the lower). I wanted to build one but I can go down and buy a complete cheap one for 669.00 plus tax with mag ready to fire.

http://www.turners.com/engage/displa...allcatalog.php

So now i don't think I'm going to build. He also thought he could buy parts slow to ease in to it. Well he held the lowers for few years on that thought. Then it was time and you buy the upper which is the big chunk at one time and you might as well buy the rest cuz that's only like 100.00 or less. So he waited for years then bought everything in a few days.

Building your own is fun, but it took like a whole 30 min. maybe 1 hour tops. So its not a long lasting thrill to pay more to do.

Moose,

Aren't you using Sta-Lube Equa-Torque?

Where do you get this stuff? It's the only thing that works right.

That's what I used to get at Kragen. But when O'Reilly took over, they stopped carrying it. Tried their stuff but it didn't work from the start. Tried stuff from Napa and worked for just over 10k miles. So yeah, back to that stuff. $11.94 with shipping on Amazon. Don't waste your time on anything else!

My birthday present arrived in the mail today. Now the back is covered too before the snow arrives.

Moose, That is a sweet B-day gift!

You had any issues with your EGR's becoming loose? My passanger side front visor has so much slack in it lately that when I roll down the window, it slides down a half inch or more...afraid it is going to blow out!

Not a one. In fact, it was a tight fit getting them in. I remember hoping they wouldn't break when installing them because I had to flex them to fit. Sounds like you may have gotten a defective one on that side.

Mine were pretty tight going in too, I had to flex them quite a bit. I am wondering if it has something to do with temperature change here. We went from 90+ degrees to mid 70's in a few days. I'll have to try and snap a pic the next time it happens. If it continues, I will contact the manufacturer and complain.

Don't the in channel variety still use 3M tape to anchor them?
