Not sure where OP is located and exactly the RPM issues experienced.
I purchased a 17 Tacoma recently with the 2.7 and 5spd. The other day while exiting the interstate, throwing it in neutral and releasing the clutch it decided to run at 3200 rpm for a few seconds, then 2200 rpm for a few seconds and wouldn't idle until I stopped.
It also has a slightly rough idle and under 2200 rpm I can experience bucking, hesitation, and surging if driving at a steady rate, slightly backing off and then accelerating. It's worse when the temp needle is about 3/4 fully warmed up, a little better when fully warmed up and doesn't appear to do it yet when cold. Seems like it's running lean. The dealer didn't know what to do with it so they have had the regional field engineer look at it and I'm waiting for a report.
Curious if others are experiencing the same.
