Throttle position sensor location

Hi. Kindly assist. I want to locate my throttle position sensor. Is it different ftom the knock sensor?

They are two completely different parts with completely different functions. The TPS is located on the throttle body. The knock sensor is screwed into the engine block on the front side. See diagram below.




2015 RAV4 Limited, AWD, tech pkg, Barcelona red metallic, 66k miles
1996 Avalon XLS, ABS brakes, super white II, acquired w/ 139k, now at 400k
1992 Camry LE, V6 (3VZ-FE), ABS brakes, dark emerald pearl, owned since new. Replaced HGs @332k, totaled at 384k miles

Got your PM. It's better to ask questions here in your thread though, so others can benefit from the info.


Here's a pic of the throttle body your engine has. It's been removed from the engine, of course. The TPS is that black plastic part, the one with the silver dot on it, and a screw on either side of it. You can't just simply swap it out, though, if yours is bad. There are some adjustments to perform after it's installed. I don't know the details of that for your engine.
