2018 RAV4 roof weather strips

They are falling off on both sides after a drive through car wash. Noticed this has been an issue for RAV4ís for years, saw an old 2014 post regarding this. Have a appointment to fix since under warranty but why is cheap 2 sided tape used to hold them in place?

Anyone else have this issue?

After repairs Iím doing the same, strictly hand sprayers.

Nothing is built like it use to be, but Iím shocked Toyota build quality is following this trend. Mechanically they are still great though.

I'll have to take a look at mine. We use touch-less car washes, but they have hurricane-blowers for drying that could be hard on them.

Didnít think of the blowers, makes sense since theyíer really hot and that could warp things and ruin the adhesives.

Wink

Wouldn't this be covered under yer warranty? Probably wouldn't hurt to drop by the dealership to find out.

Shortly after I bought my 2015 RAV4 one side came halfway off. I just firmly pushed it back in place and it never happened again after many, many normal carwashes. Still intact today.

The difference is I didn't avoid drive through car washes and still have not had it happen again. I use drive throughs every couple of weeks.
