1 month update after resetting driver learning algorithms:
Slightly better. Holds gears longer overall, still good gas mileage, less bucking, clunking and thudding, BUT still there.
Accelerating around corners whether from a stop or coasting, or merging onto a freeway from a decent speed is still mental. Takes half a week to get going.
Slightly better reaccelerating in the city from rolling. Sometimes it is stupid and thuds into gear, but less often than before the reset.
*I feel like since reverting back to my regular driving habits after giving the system over 1000km of hard, wide range learning, I think the system is changing to meet my current driving patterns which is what I was worried about.
So all in all, Smitty, thanks a lot for the suggestion, it did help; but it did not FIX the transmission. I think only Toyota can do that. I'm sure they know how, I'm sure they're sweating, and I'm sure they have someone doing the math as we speak as to how much it would cost if they had to fix all our trannys, vs. how much it would cost to fight this all in court. If you don't believe me, recall an American automaker a few decades ago. People were DYING or becoming seriously injured from a flaw. The corporation did the math, and found it was cheaper to remunerate the casualties caused from this faulty part than to do a full-blown recall and fix everyone's vehicles. Guess which path they chose, ever so quietly I might add. We are talking about putting $'s on people's lives. These auto mfgs need to be taken down a peg, or six. Complete BS how much power they have. In our cases, it is a safety concern, has caused close calls for me before and others on here, so it is not as dire as the example above, but it just goes to show what happens when these big wigs get so fat, their lobbyists get too much power, and they stick it to us AND get away with it. Anyone try filing a lemon law lately? Lol...
