Lock mystery

Help! My keys won't turn in the door locks. Here are the clues:

The FOB work fine to open and lock all 5 doors (4 doors + hatchback)
Keys work fine in ignition, car starts fine
Keys won't turn in any of the 5 door locks
Keys fit into door key slots fine, they just won't turn either direction

The locks have all been lubed with graphite but no luck. I've wiggled and jiggled them etc. It's not winter so locks aren't frozen.

2004 Rav4

Thanks in advance!

There appears to be a rod that connects to the door lock actuator that is disconnected.

Watch this youtube and find how to remedy this solution. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

did you just buy this rav4?....could be that the doors were replaced and the lock cylinders could be from a different rav4.....i have seen that issue before.....

Jillsrav4 said the car starts up fine with the key. Also if the rod for the lock actuator is loose it will prevent the door from opening but the other 2 doors should still lock or unlock manually with the key. Unless the driver side is the main control the loose rod prevents a switch in the actuator from turning on the actuator on the other doors.

each door lock cylinder would work independently of the other ones.....also when the door lock rod is disconnected the lock will turn when the key is placed in it....however if the key is not cut the same as the lock cylinders then the key will not turn in either direction.....since the key works the ignition fine one of 2 things has happened....either the ignition cylinder has been replaced and the new key does not fit the door locks or the doors or door lock cylinders have been replaced.....an easy way to test this would be to see if the key will lock and unlock the glove box.....if the key works in the glove box then my guess is the door locks or doors have been replaced.....if it does not work in the glove box then i would guess the ignition has been replaced......

Lock Mystery

I can rule out any changes to the lock cylinders, I'm the original owner and have never had them modified.
Thanks!

How long has it been since you were able to use the key.......keys can wear down over time and if you don't use the key on the door locks they may not wear down at the same rate causing the key to not be the same shape as the lock cylinder.....my girlfriend has that issue with her trunk lock......do you have a spare key that isn't used much......or maybe the dealer can cut you a new one......or does someone not like you......could have squirted super glue in the locks......I think lighter fluid will break glue up (the kind used to refill zippos)....you could take the cylinders and if they still won't turn just replace them......would suck if your battery died and you could not get into your rav.......
