  1. And there goes my Corolla...

Corolla 11th Gen Sedan 2014-19, Scion iM 2016-18
The car was only in Uber use for a few months...the fact that my friend didn't need it for long is a good thing. He's found something with good pay, and semi-regular hours (it's IT work, so emergencies do happen). I've thought a lot about what I want to replace this car with, and there are...
  2. And there goes my Corolla...

Corolla 11th Gen Sedan 2014-19, Scion iM 2016-18
it's not out of the question, but I do remember learning on donated cars. The tax deduction wouldn't hurt. I actually like the way the hatchback looks. Though the hatch is joined by several other options.
  3. And there goes my Corolla...

Corolla 11th Gen Sedan 2014-19, Scion iM 2016-18
After a couple years of service, it's time for my Corolla to move on. It served its purpose without much fanfare, or major issue. The car did everything well, but didn't really excel in any particular area (it started when needed, drove well, was comfortable, good on gas, didn't cost much for...
  4. The new TRD Camry is sporty!

    Camry 8th Generation (2018+)
If your XSE is the sportiest car you've ever driven, I can see how you would think that it can't be improved upon, if you've had the chance to drive a well balanced, sports sedan, then the XSE leaves a lot to be desired. I've yet to drive one, but the looks are growing on me, and I am curious...
  5. The new TRD Camry is sporty!

    Camry 8th Generation (2018+)
According to Car and Driver - who have never been too kind on the Camry - the TRD package makes it a decent handling car. 2020 Toyota Camry TRD Changes the Camry's Game
  6. Who Wants A 2020 TRD Camry

    Camry 8th Generation (2018+)
Not sure about this...like everyone else, that crowd is migrating towards SUVs, and Crossovers.
  7. Who Wants A 2020 TRD Camry

    Camry 8th Generation (2018+)
Performance and FWD do not go together, except in rare circumstances.
  8. Who Wants A 2020 TRD Camry

    Camry 8th Generation (2018+)
Just wait to buy the parts off of one that's been wrecked because some yokel was out driving beyond their abilities...
  9. Custom seat covers for 2019 Hatch XSE?

    Corolla 12th Gen (Hatch 2019+/Sedan 2020+)
Not sure how much you're willing to spend, but if you're willing, Katzkin would work well for a Corolla, and it's real leather. I've seen some, and aside from the small 'Katzkin' tag sewn in, they look as good as factory SofTex which is actually absolute sh*t.
  10. 2019 SE- Wheels stolen. What Now?

    Camry 8th Generation (2018+)
Sorry to all of you who have had your wheels nicked, or had to deal with sub-par insurance service. I think I'd probably repair my Toyota, sell, eat the loss, and then buy a new one. For my Euro-sedans (both in the same dealer network), I've found a manufacturer-certified auto-repair shop (also...
  11. Holding up well under Uber duty

Corolla 11th Gen Sedan 2014-19, Scion iM 2016-18
In the 7 months my friend has been using the car, he's done an extra oil change, and been watching the consumables (checking brakes, and fluids, etc). It's actually being cared for better than when I was the only one using it (aside from lending it out to friends, or family). I don't abuse the...
  12. Holding up well under Uber duty

Corolla 11th Gen Sedan 2014-19, Scion iM 2016-18
There's really nothing in it for me. If it weren't for the person I'm doing the favour for, there's no chance I'd do it at all - I've been friends with my guy for the better part of my life (going back to elementary school), and he's one of the most trusted people I know. He's gone from the...
  13. Holding up well under Uber duty

Corolla 11th Gen Sedan 2014-19, Scion iM 2016-18
I figured this would be the easiest way to reply to all... I have taken the insurance, and liability issues into account. First off, I'm not in New York City, or State. The Corolla has a policy with Progressive, completely separate from my other two cars (actually, a different company all...
  14. Holding up well under Uber duty

Corolla 11th Gen Sedan 2014-19, Scion iM 2016-18
I'm actually covered. The car is actually on a separate insurance policy for rideshare, with my buddy covered on the policy. I'm aware of the risks. As for the car being 'rented', we have no formal agreement written out, and I don't really push my friend for it. Thanks for the heads up though.
  15. Holding up well under Uber duty

Corolla 11th Gen Sedan 2014-19, Scion iM 2016-18
A buddy of mine fell on hard times, and needed to pick up side gigs (in addition to his regular job), so decided to start driving Uber. Since his car didn't qualify, I started letting him rent my Corolla for $25/week - I would have lent it for free, but he's insisted on renting. I still only...
  16. Negative comments on new Camry from a Toyota salesperson

    Camry 8th Generation (2018+)
Just depends on the dealership. You'll get widely varying experiences.
  17. SeaSucker bike rack

    Camry 8th Generation (2018+)
Hitch racks are good, though with all the people playing with phones while driving, I'm afraid to use one with the bikes I have. I have Yakima roof racks on my euro cars, and a SeaSucker rack to use with my Corolla, and friends, or rental cars. I've never had any issue with it, they're very...
  18. Why did you choose the Corolla Hatchback over the competitors?

    Corolla 12th Gen (Hatch 2019+/Sedan 2020+)
This would actually be the idea setup, and it's the reason I'm such a fan of turbo motors - nothing like having most of your torque available to at 1500-2000 RPMs. Enthusiasts are willing to sacrifice gas mileage for fun, the majority of the buying public isn't.
  19. 0w-16

    Camry 8th Generation (2018+)
Honestly, I can't remember what the initial schedule was, I just find it more convenient buying one type of oil, and doing a yearly maintenance. It hasn't hurt the car so far.
  20. Horn Upgrade

    Corolla 12th Gen (Hatch 2019+/Sedan 2020+)
I installed the Hella Super Tones on my Corolla. They work infinitely better than the stock horn. It also improves the panic button function. You're right, no one expects a car like the Corolla to have such a strong note.
