  1. When To Add Limited Slip Additive to Differential

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable on the subject chimes in and can confirm but as far as I know, the off-road editions have a locking differential and not a limited slip. Therefore, off-road editions do NOT need any additives. Quick research shows that the limited-slip, mechanical...
  2. Frustrated By Oxidized Frosted-Over Headlights? Fixed Very Easily and Cheaply

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
Now that it's clean, you need to protect the surface from UV rays. Otherwise, you'll be using that stuff again very soon. Either use the 3M paint protection film, which is VERY hard to apply without any imperfections given the curves of our headlights, or I recently read of someone having them...
  3. Door Parts

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
I recently started using http://www.partsouq.com. Just enter your VIN and then find your part. Their parts diagrams and info is the best that I've found.
  4. Low speed vibration and noise

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
For whatever it's worth, my needle bearing was making noise from about 1 to 20mph. I know it was the needle bearing because I just replaced it and the noise is 100% gone.
  5. Low speed vibration and noise

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
If memory serves me correct, parts and labor were somewhere in the $300 range at the dealer. I paid about $125 for the ECGS bushing, axle seal and removal tool. I already had a bearing driver so I didn't need the install tool. I did the work myself. FYI - although the needle bearing part has...
  6. Low speed vibration and noise

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
Willing to bet your slow speed vibrations/grinding is the needle bearing in the front differential on driver side. Very common and known issue. TSB is T-SB-0026-15 "Front Differential Groaning/Grinding Cyclical Noise". I just replaced mine after 200k with the ECGS bushing and the noise is gone...
  7. Towability of the 2006 Tacoma with automatic transmission? Can it be done?

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
Your question peaked my interest so I did some research. It seems like the answer from Toyota is "NO" but many people claim to have done it without issue. I suspect most of them are using a driveline disconnect. Here are a few links to read...
  8. Replacement Hitch

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
I saw them on eBay but after looking through some of the pics, they have some visible damage - like a bent 7 pin mounting plate. It makes me wonder if anything else is bent, especially if the vehicle was hit in the rear. That one hitch which looks repainted (I agree) is an aftermarket, likely a...
  9. Replacement Hitch

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
The factory installed class 4 hitch on my 06 TRD Sport is getting pretty rusty and flaky. Although I'm no longer towing every month, now only a few times per year, the overall condition of the hitch has me concerned. It's at the point where I want to replace it and not have to worry. Driving a...
  10. Toyota Tacoma Part Number

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
PT206-35100-13 appears to be a set of fronts of charcoal gray mats for an 05-11 REGULAR cab. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OEM-TOYOTA-TACOMA-05-11-LIGHT-CHARCOAL-GRAY-REGULAR-FLOOR-MATS-2-PIECE-SET/283506437199 PT206-35101-13 appears to be a full set (front and rear) of charcoal gray mats for an...
  11. Maybe for a 2005 Toyota Tacoma 4.0 l

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
I'm guessing you didn't even crawl under your truck and look at them yet? They are all different. If I got them from Toyota for my 06 Double Cab Long Bed TRD Sport, below is what I would get plus the associated gaskets and all new nuts/bolts. These parts are all bolt-ons, no cutting or clamping...
  12. Check engine light o2 sensor 05 Tacoma

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
Denso 234-4261 is the correct part for Bank 1 Sensor 2. The original sensors are Denso so you're fine using Denso aftermarket rather the Toyota Denso OE (part number 89465-04290). I did the same thing.
  13. coolant flush...

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
Never heard of flushing an automotive cooling system with vinegar and/or baking soda. I guess I would have to do some research but on the surface, it seems too risky. Because what's the reward, making things cleaner? Personally, I would stick to a mix of distilled water and coolant - nothing else.
  14. Frame Corrosion after CPC Spray

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
Don't buy it, unless the frame and all other parts in the recall are going to be replaced by a Toyota dealer (not BMW).
  15. Aluminum wheel question

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
OEM, 3rd party refinished wheels? If yes, how have they held up (compared to factory) and where did you get them from? I had mine powercoated but they didn't last.
  16. Not the O2 Sensor?

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
mad-dogg, check your PM. I sent you some additional info that should help.
  17. Not the O2 Sensor?

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
Assuming you have the 4.0L V6 (1GR-FE) engine, here is some info that should help you... Bank 1 = passenger (right) side Bank 2 = driver (left) side Sensor 1 = upstream, before the CAT. These are air/fuel ratio sensors Sensor 2 = downstream, after the CAT. These are heated oxygen sensors...
  18. Accurate Tire Pressure Guages????

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
I've found this to be pretty reliable in the 7+ years that I've had and used it. https://www.motionpro.com/product/08-0402 Only complaint is that it does leak a bit of fluid over time which is very greasy. I see that they now have a digital version though so I would certainly give it a try if...
  19. cylinder head gaskets finally replaced

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
Is there a known head gasket problem with the 05's? What about 06's? I'm at 192k on my 06 without any issues, engine or trans.
  20. Fumoto oil drain valve

    Tacoma 2nd Generation (2005-2015)
I installed one recently on a Honda Pilot. Well worth the money in my opinion. It's been installed now for about 25k miles. No issues or complaints.
