  1. Impossible to sell-'96 V6 wagon

    Camry 3rd and 4th Gen '92-'01, Solara '99-'03
I thought about scrapping it, and I’ll do that of absolutely necessary, but it just seems like a waste of a decent car for someone. All they’re going to do is charge someone $500 for the 1mz, when I’d give someone the entire car for that price, running and driving! Time will tell
  2. Impossible to sell-'96 V6 wagon

    Camry 3rd and 4th Gen '92-'01, Solara '99-'03
Hi, thank you for the reply! I have not posted it in classified section since I was hoping for a quick sell locally. I imagine the majority of people who would be interested are likely too far to drive for a $500 beater. As for cleaning the interior, I did a 6"x6" spot clean with degreaser, a...
  3. Impossible to sell-'96 V6 wagon

    Camry 3rd and 4th Gen '92-'01, Solara '99-'03
Hey guys, just figured I'd post here to gain some thoughts/opinions. Please do not take this as a sob story, even though it comes off as one. Just sharing my experience. TL;DR I traded a Volvo for a rough condition v6 wagon and can't even sell it at minimum bluebook value. Here we go. I...
  4. 02 Camry High RPM's in Overdrive

    Camry 5th and 6th Gen '02-'11, Solara '04-'08
Are you sure overdrive is engaging?
  5. Genuine Seal Part Numbers

    Camry 3rd and 4th Gen '92-'01, Solara '99-'03
I have all maintenance records from the original owner on this 99 Camry 5SFE, and it looks like the last timing belt, WP, and seal replacement was done around 200k miles (now at 250k), and 4 years ago. That being said, The cam seal was "National" brand and the pump was a GMB. The pump bearing...
  6. harmonic balancers keep failing

    Camry 3rd and 4th Gen '92-'01, Solara '99-'03
Thank you both. Does anyone know if all of the 5SFE HB are interchangeable between OBD1/OBD2 and Gen3/Gen4 camrys? Just want to be sure.
  7. harmonic balancers keep failing

    Camry 3rd and 4th Gen '92-'01, Solara '99-'03
What is everyones go-to brand for these? I received a free 95 5SFE camry and the PO put on some no name balancer, so I cannot properly set ignitino timing due to the slipped outer ring. Not paying $270+ for OE Toyota...
  8. Genuine Seal Part Numbers

    Camry 3rd and 4th Gen '92-'01, Solara '99-'03
I double checked and it looks like everything is genuine toyota.
  9. Genuine Seal Part Numbers

Thank you Andy! that was an invaluable post that I will certainly use in the future for more camrys. Thank you!

  11. Genuine Seal Part Numbers

    Camry 3rd and 4th Gen '92-'01, Solara '99-'03
I have never ever seen Genuine name brand parts listed on RockAuto. Also, I had no issue finding the OE part numbers for the seals, but wanted to know that when you get them from the dealer, are they still NOK branded or do they have "Toyota" printed? I basically wanted to know who the OE...
  12. Genuine Seal Part Numbers

    Camry 3rd and 4th Gen '92-'01, Solara '99-'03
Why are you posting links to websites? Neither of your posts are relevant to what I asked.
  13. Genuine Seal Part Numbers

    Camry 3rd and 4th Gen '92-'01, Solara '99-'03
Oh and also, both of my Camrys are US made in the Kentucky plant (1995 and 1999) if it matters.
  14. Genuine Seal Part Numbers

    Camry 3rd and 4th Gen '92-'01, Solara '99-'03
Folks, I am trying to find out the genuine OE toyota part numbers for the oil pump shaft seal, camshaft seal and crankshaft seal for the 5SFE engine. I ordered all of these on Amazon the other day that claimed to be genuine toyota parts (and they may be), but when the packages arrived, the bags...
  15. 2001 Camry AC died

    Camry 3rd and 4th Gen '92-'01, Solara '99-'03
Yes, you use a compressed air nozzle with a rubber tip that fits into the yellow portion of the manifold gauges. Hold the trigger, then have a friend open high and low side dials at the same time until it builds max psi (roughly 100psi from most compressors) and once pressure is built, close the...
  16. cylinder head shop told me all valves are leaking, but I am confused;-)

    Camry 3rd and 4th Gen '92-'01, Solara '99-'03
At 418k miles, they probably mean that the valves and seats need to be lapped (or fully cut with new valves). You can lap them yourself if you want. Youtube valve lapping.
  17. '07, AC compressor issues

    Camry 5th and 6th Gen '02-'11, Solara '04-'08
Correct: that is what the TXV should do. However, if it was fully open, I would imagine there would be no pressure differential because it would be free flowing. That being said, even a fully open one would allow *some* pressure differential. Yeah we were thinking it’s that variable...
  18. '07, AC compressor issues

    Camry 5th and 6th Gen '02-'11, Solara '04-'08
Hello all, I am working on a 2007 Toyota Camry 2.4L with inoperable AC. Here's the details ~85-90F outside, high and low side pressures both the exact same at about 145psi. I have 13v going to the compressor with the AC on, and I have verified 0 ohms resistance from ground wire connector to...
  19. Would this timing belt noise concern you?

    Camry 3rd and 4th Gen '92-'01, Solara '99-'03
The idea is to milk it to 300k. I have a clunk when in OD and given somewhat heavy throttle (feels like the torque converter unlocking harshly) but I believe it to be caused from being slightly low on fluid. At least that's what my research shows. I should really top that off.
  20. Would this timing belt noise concern you?

    Camry 3rd and 4th Gen '92-'01, Solara '99-'03
I wonder what the reasoning is for the better fuel economy. My guess would be fuel / ignition map revisions, since the engines are the same I think. I would looove a 5 speed Camry. All my other vehicles are manuals, but this Camry was just a gift to me so I had no choice. I have a feeling the...
