  1. 5th Gen 4Runner Bleeding Out

    4Runner 5th Generation (2010+)
Very weird. Hope you get it to leak again to get it fixed.
  2. 5th Gen 4Runner Bleeding Out

    4Runner 5th Generation (2010+)
That's a pretty good leak for sure. Make it Toyota's problem. Let us know what the issue is.
  3. Alternator burn out

    Camry 5th and 6th Gen '02-'11, Solara '04-'08
10 year old car... start with checking all grounds.
  4. 2GRFE Leaking Head Gasket?

    Avalon 4th Generation (2013-2018)
Two easy ways to test for a blown head gasket, you can put a radiator pressure test tool on it. pump the pressure up, if it does not hold pressure and no leaks on the ground, pretty good indication of a head gasket issue. The other is a compression test. There is also a test you can do to see...

    4Runner 5th Generation (2010+)
4Runner has a huge aftermarket for suspension upgrades. use the googles.

    4Runner 5th Generation (2010+)
Upgrades for a smotther ride? 4Runner is not really designed for that, if you want smoother ride go for a Highlander. 4Runner is built more like a truck, body on frame construction. You will not really get a smoother ride unless you change springs, shocks etc. Usually the suspension upgrades...
  7. MPG resets to 0 when starting engine.

    Avalon 4th Generation (2013-2018)
To add to pjsithres post, clean the battery posts with a wire brush. Also clean the terminals on the cables. Make sure they are nice and shiny where they make contact with the battery posts. Look for any other body grounds you can see in the engine compartment and clean those up as well.

    4Runner 5th Generation (2010+)
Also, you need to figure out a list of items that will put your vehicle into limp mode. Will an air injection pump "failure" put it into limp mode, or are those two separate items. It sure sounds to me you have a wiring harness problem. You need wiring diagrams, test equipment, a whole lot of...

    4Runner 5th Generation (2010+)
I'd say you might have a broken wire or loose pin in the harness between the pump and ECU. It may vibrate just enough to lose continuity when driving, other times it may be fine. First thing I'd check is the connector on the harness. Make sure all the wires are connected to the pins...
  10. Deer Damage - To Keep or Not

    Avalon 4th Generation (2013-2018)
Estimate was written with aftermarket parts. However, the body shop performing the repairs does not like aftermarket parts and will use factory parts. The guy at the body shop told me it is a game now with the insurance companies. Factory parts are much easier to deal with and can save money...
  11. Deer Damage - To Keep or Not

    Avalon 4th Generation (2013-2018)
I hit a deer with my 2018 Avalon back on 21-Sept. The car has been at the body shop since 24-Sept, I hope to get back by the end of the week. The total damages have come in right at $10k, insurance company is paying all by my $250 deductible. As you can see, I hit the deer right in the middle...
  12. 2016 avalon question about radar cruise.

    Avalon 4th Generation (2013-2018)
The left lane should not be considered the "fast" lane. It should be considered the passing lane. Once you pass a car you move over to the right. THis may require more lane changes but it it drives me crazy when people camp in the left lane for no reason.
  13. Bluetooth issues

    Avalon 4th Generation (2013-2018)
Personally, I do not think it is a problem with your car's electronics. It seems like everytime Apple pushes a new update to my iphone, bluetooth acts a little weird with the car. The next release of Apple software seems to cure the issues.
  14. Why didn’t you get a 4Runner?

    Highlander 3rd Generation (2014-2019)
This is why Toyota makes both the 4Runner and the Highlander. Two different models that serve different purposes. Highlander is more car like, front wheel drive primarily. 4Runner more truck like, traditional drive train, heavier duty all the way around. I own a 4Runner and bought for...
  15. My wife must feel jinxed

    Camry 3rd and 4th Gen '92-'01, Solara '99-'03
If it does not overheat with the heat setting all the way to the cold side, then I'd say you have a plugged up heater core. I think you have 23 years worth of sediment in the bottom of the radiator killing its effectiveness.
  16. Fluid Change ? on '15 Highlander

    Highlander 3rd Generation (2014-2019)
Coolant is designed to go past 100k. Transmission fluid as well. Unless you do a lot of towing, you don't need any of those fluids changed yet. As stated in earlier posts, consult your maintenance schedule in your owners manual. The dealer service department is not your friend no matter...
  17. Check Engine Light Flashing When Engine is Cold

    4Runner 3rd Generation (1996-2002)
Flashing CEL can sometimes indicate a misfire. You need to pull the codes to start a diagnosis.
  18. 1991 Corolla with extended crank.

    Corolla 6th Generation (1988-1992)
Hmmm... 1991 Model Year car. 27 years old. How many miles? Have good compression across all 4 cylinders? Start there, rule out compression before throwing parts at the fuel system. Compression check is cheap and easy.
  19. 48k '15 Corolla S front right suspension creak

Corolla 11th Gen Sedan 2014-19, Scion iM 2016-18
Stabilizer links can be easy repairs, depends on the car. You'll need a jack, jack stands, ratchet, possibly an extension, metric sockets, and some time. Youtube is your friend. I've replaced them on my Miata, and my pickup. Pretty easy to do. The part itself is not expensive, and if...
  20. ? Alignment needed after steering column fix

    Highlander 2nd Generation (2008-2013)
Ask the dealer why an alignment is required. The steering shaft is not adjusting the toe or camber. Tires worn unevenly? If it does need an alignment is that a sign of other steering gear parts that need to be replaced i.e. tie-rods, control arms etc. Sounds like the dealer is selling you...
