  1. WTB Echo Tow / Trailer HITCH

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
Yeah... I've been keeping my eyes peeled for about 6 months hoping there'd be some kind of clearance or discount sale, either on ebay or etrailer or blahblahblah... but no such luck yet.
  2. WTB Echo Tow / Trailer HITCH

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
Since the Echo market is so small, and since a search of the ToyotaNation marketplace yielded exactly zero results, thought I'd ask the Echo page directly; anyone have a used tow / trailer hitch they could sell? We need one, and just plain don't have the $$$ to order a new one. Shipping would...
  3. Rockauto.com 5% code, good through 3-15-20

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
Rockauto.com actively promotes sharing their 5% discount codes, so thought I'd start a thread with the one I got yesterday. Maybe during the next two months someone can save a little bit with it. In the "How did you hear about us" window, put in this code: 128189661102893732 The discount...
  4. 2002 Echo dying at idle, sometimes restarts.

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
I realize this thread is now over six years old...but if I'm reading it today, others in the future may read it as well. I wanted to throw in some experiential info regarding what you were told: Quote: "I was told that a failing coil would cause the computer to shut the car off and it would...
  5. Toyota Echo Fuel Pump

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
I've heard of folks using marker lids as makeshift quick-connect quick-disconnectors. Cut one almost in half, open end down to closed end, then shave off what you don't need. Haven't tried it...but love the idea of it :-)
  6. Toyota Echo Fuel Pump

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
I'm speaking equally from the posterior here...but could that 2-screwdriver method on the evap line be accomplished with the traditional fuel line removal tool sets? Your method description reminded me of the first time I needed to remove a fuel line & didn't have access to the rental tools at...
  7. Bought last new 2018 Yaris in Chicagoland, maybe Midwest.

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
Funny how dealer stock works... you never know what's been stashed away somewhere, either on purpose or by accident or was just plain forgotten about. Considering the longevity of these things, I'd say you got a good deal... well done :-)
  8. Echo cool looking control knobs upgrade?

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
The two reviews saying they didn't fit an 05 xB don't give much reassurance. But it'd be nice to know if other knobs from other vehicles fit. Next time I'm at a pick-n-pull I'll wander around & see what I can see.
  9. Echo double din touch screen upgrade

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
The photos for the double din piece certainly look good... might purchase it first and do a test fit. Ebay's buyer protection is fairly decent... you can return it as "not as described" should it not fit the car or the screen. My only concern would be how visible the screen would be from that...
  10. Steering rack bushings for echo!!???

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
Thank you for the update & specs! Looking forward to hearing how the bushings work out! :-)
  11. Toyota Echo 2004 running sound.

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
As I was reading, I was thinking it's beginning to sound more & more like a wheel bearing. Since changing the tires didn't help, a wheel bearing could be the next logical step. Years ago you could jack up the car and wiggle the tire with your hands at 10 & 2, 9 & 3, and then 1 & 7 or 11 & 5...
  12. Toyota Echo 2004 running sound.

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
Thanks for the reply...seems as though the noise is definitely motion-related. That helps narrow things down. Does the noise change in any way before/after the transmission shifts? Many automatic transmissions develop noises as they age, sometimes due to parts wearing, sometimes due to...
  13. Toyota Echo 2004 running sound.

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
Just to clarify... Does the noise happen with the key "On" but with the motor off...or does the noise begin only after the motor is started? Can you hear the noise with the motor running but while sitting still? You mentioned it gets louder as speed increases... what about while revving the...
  14. Broken bolt

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
Unfortunately, it will affect the tension on the belt. Maybe not immediately, but the constant "pull" of the tight belt against the alternator will slowly (but surely) suck the alternator back towards the block. You might get lucky and get a few miles first. Heck, if the bottom bolt is tight...
  15. Steering rack bushings for echo!!???

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
Congrats! I'd definitely be interested in those measurements... although the previous post's mentioning of creating a DIY bushing appeals to my inner MacGyver :-)
  16. Preventing Rust on a 12-year-old Yaris? Budget: $200-$700

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
He's on to something there. Washing seems to be the number one best possible option. I have a buddy who created his own DIY drive-over under body car wash. Upon arriving home he'll fire it up, drive over it slowly down one side, then back over it slowly down the other side. Then again, he...
  17. Fuel Door Release Pin Stuck

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
Sounds sensible. Glad to hear it's easy enough to open without the spring pushing it outwards. Another job well done.
  18. Cranks but doesn't Start (No codes)

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
Hopefully it just took a sec to get the lines filled with gas. Glad to hear it's back on the road! :-)
  19. Off_Road Echo

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
One thing's for sure...sooner or later, someone somewhere will have the same question and find this thread looking for the answer...so if you come up with something that works even marginally well, be sure to check back in and let everyone know what you came up with. Heck, after my daughter's...
  20. Off_Road Echo

Yaris/Scion iA, Vitz and Echo Forum
FWIW... I've heard of people purchasing GOOD quality struts to replace their 100k-200k OEMs, thinking the age/ mileage would require it... only to find the replacements a downgrade from their old/used OEM factory struts. The takeaway being the factory Toyota struts were overbuilt. But...
