Dunno! Some single mum had it before me, she had three kids, so there are a lot of scratch's on the paint and the interior was badly stained. I had her for the last six and half years. I never thought much of Toyotas, lol. Until I owned one. Now I recon that the next car in about 12 months will be a Toyota 4x4.
Until recently I never had a problem. Sure I replaced the timing chain at 300,000 kms but really that's about it. Western Australia is about the flattest place on the planet and to go country one has to head at least an hour in any direction to be in some sought of bush environment. In saying that I have driven her on a few country trips, Down to a x whaling town down south a number of times Albany and Esperance (added for those that like Google maps) and up to a place called kalabari which is a tourist/fishing town about 8 hours north of Perth. It's a dream car in many ways. Cheap to run, comfortable to drive and has a little bit of oomph when its needed. She's a bit of a rarity as she's a 5 speed manual with cruise control. And over here that's rare as most people went for the auto when they came out.
