Is the rear main seal accessible once the transmission is out of the way? Looks like I'll have to remove the seal retainer. In my case, that could be a real challenge. Likewise, it also looks like I might have to renew the oil pan seal, once the retainer has been removed. I have a small but...

Hello all, with the info from this site and a shop manual my brother and I just did a bunch of work on this cheap old Camry. Decades oil and clutch dust covered the entire engine and transmission so I couldn't tell before exactly where all the leaks were coming from. We replaced the badly worn...

I've noticed a small leak (drops at most) on my toyota camry and took it to the dealer for diagnosis. They told me it was the rear main seal leaking and quoted me about $2,500. I was a little surprised because I take religiously good care of my car and have never had an issue. I'm the original...

I have a 1998 Camry 4cylinder with 195,000 miles...I think the rear main seal has been leaking for 50k miles but it has progressively gotten worse. There is a 4inch puddle of oil under the car after parking and sitting after I drive it on the highway. When the car Idles I see oil dripping out...

Installing a new rear main seal on my '88 Camry, 3sfe. I accidentally removed the retaining plate before I realized I could pull the seal without removing the plate:headbang:. I have a new OEM gasket for the plate. Does it need to be oiled or installed with any sealant before I install? Thx! Rick
