I didnt try turning the tube nuts up top. I'll try it when I get out for lunch. I was able to get #3 spark plug out but it seemed to be on tight. I put it back in and made sure it was tight so I'll also check and see if theres oil in there.

check battery terminals if tight, clean and secure. check all fuses with a cheap tester (e.g. from autozone, etc.) to top test pins (green LED lights up when good).

double check the order of new wires on new spark plugs and make sure all of them "clicked" on both ends.

hmm my wires are just like in the link.. everything will light up then it will make the sound when the starter starts for a split second then everything will power down..

it's too dark now so I guess I'll try 1-3-4-2
thats cylinder 1-2-3-4 going left to right when your looking into the engine bay right?

could it be that it's not starting and cutting power because its not plugged in the right order?

btw the order im talking is how its plugged into the cap thing on the right side of the engine where the wires plug into.

so it started up but it ran rough so i tried a different order back to the one in the link, now its doing the same thing, just making the starting sound and then cutting all the power. ahhhhhhhhh

If you used NGK wires, they have numbered tags. cylinders are numbered 1 to 4 from passenger side to driver side on our cars.
ignition modules have white numbers imprinted on the driver side. may need a flash light to see them. just match the numbers to each other.

your problem might be somewhere else though. do you have a CEL on? if you had a dead spark plug or bad wire it should give you some misfire codes on specific cylinder.

no CEL light. I'll check in the morning to see the numbers on the ignition module.
OK. that order (on ignition modules) you mentioned above 1-4-2-3 is correct when looking from front of car towards the windshield.
however the engine computer then fires the cylinders in order 1-3-4-2 (when wires are plugged in like above).

how were they plugged in when car fired up and was rough?

then since it did fire up, it suggests there is no faults in electrical systems at all ... just make sure wires are correctly seated and each of them pressed down until it locks in (clicks) on both ignition module side and on top of each spark plug (similar click).

I think it was plugged in 4-3-2-1 when it ran rough.

shouldn't it try to crank though? All I get is the initial sound of the starter going and then everything turns off.

could it be related to a fuse maybe? I checked the fuse box by the battery and it seemed like one of the red fuses were blown. Will have to check in the morning but could that be the issue?

I can't see how a blown fuse would allow the car to start with wrong firing order and would not allow even to crank with correct firing order. I dunno.

make sure the wires are plugged securely as described above (or in pic) and go from there.

what is the blown fuse description? regular red fuse, like 10A in Main Fuse Box under hood? or one of those big square ones with transparent plastic top (Fusible blocks or FMX type for High Amps)? anyways replace all that are blown or look fishy (e.g. brownish already or corroded/oxidized).

Alright so I checked all the fuses and connections and it was all good. I remeber i think from eric the car guy's video saying if there is a lot of fuel in the engine, you can push the gas pedal to the floor then crank and it will start, so i tried that and volla! I guess a little too much gas was in the engine from when I started it with the plugs in the wrong order

the car seems to run better but...I think it's idling too low? is there a idle learn procedure for the camry? I know they have them for infiniti's and BMW's

here's a picture of what it idle's at when its in park and up to normal temperature.

yea the plastic cover has some weird stuff on it, tried cleaning it but it just comes back oh well.

grats! :)

your idle looks normal. manual says 700+/-50 is the norm for gen4 camry engines. Yours look like it was right in the middle.

If you disconnected battery or removed 15A EFI fuse, than the ECU got reset and it will take a few days or let's say 100 miles to re-learn everything and pass all internal monitoring tests completed.

If you think it's a tad too low (nothing out of specs though), you can try cleaning the Throttle Body and IAC hole as your next project :)
