Hey all

I just bought a 2000 Camry Solara after driving some friends' cars and having the realization that I needed a reliable car. It handles well and I'm never going to buy another GM after replacing the intake manifold gasket on my 98 Olds Cutlass TWICE

Anyway I'm putting in a carputer with a touch screen. The screen has been bondo'ed into the radio bezel piece and I will have pictures up shortly.

However, I was playing with the stock radio and checking the fit of my new piece and I shorted the two antannae wires together on the back of the stock radio. They either touched each other or grounded out on the case of the radio.

So right now I don't have blinkers, 4-ways, gauge lights, and the amplifier (I have the JBL system) does not work. However, the radio still does and can be heard VERY quietly :ugh3:
Another funny thing is that when I hit the 4-way flasher, some of the dash lights come on, like the seatbelt and airbag lights. The two antennae wires shorted out when I had the 4-way flasher button DISCONNECTED.

Do you guys have any suggestions? I've checked all of the fuses in the box under the hood visually and then later with a multimeter. I'd like to get by without bringing it to a mechanic.

Update: I checked the fuses again and the "dash" fuse was bad. Replaced it and now I have gauge lights, but no blinker or 4-way or factory stereo amplifier. Also, when I hit the button for the 4-way flasher, the airbag light comes on for as long as the 4-way flasher button is depressed.

I checked both the fuse panel under the hood and the one by the driver's knee. Took the glovebox out and there are no fuses on the amp.

Unless I am missing the location of another fuse box, I am stumped. It bothers me because the car did not come with an owner's manual and I have not yet found a fuse that is actually labeled 'airbag' or 'amplifier' - the only fuses I found that might have been the problem were 'radio 1' and 'radio 2' and both of them were still intact.

Airbag is also called SRS, might check Cig, Ignition and ECU-B fuses. Radio fuse is Radio 1 and 2. The amp receives DC power from these fuses and then goes to the head unit.

Power antenna has Radio 1, 2 and ECU-IG fuses. Turn and hazard lights have Turn and Hazard fuses.

There should be another fuse box located lower driver’s side of console behind ashtray. In front of where you left kneecap would be.
