Hello. Just got an 02 Sequoia...tried to work an additional key (transponder type) and an additional remote for the keyless entry into the deal...obviously a "No Go". Anyway, I got the key and remote with-out programming instructions via e-bay. Does anybody know where I can obtain them without paying high dollars that the dealership charges.

Instructions

2002 key program instructions:

1.. Copy the cuts of the original working key onto the appropriate
transponder blank.

2.. Enter the car and close all of the doors.

3.. Simultaneously depress and release both the brake and accelerator pedals.

4.. Within five seconds, insert a working pre-programmed key into the ignition cylinder, and turn to the "on" position.

5.. Within fifteen seconds of turning the ignition, depress and release
the accelerator pedal five times for a primary key. (Depress and release four times for a valet key.)

6.. Within twenty seconds, depress and release the brake pedal six times for a primary key. (Depress and release only times for a valet key.)

7.. Turn the ignition to the "off" position and immediately remove the
key.

8.. Within ten seconds of removing the key, insert the new key and turn it to the "on" position.

9.. Within ten seconds, depress and release the accelerator pedal once. The security light will then flash for 60 seconds and then turn off. When the security light stops flashing the programming should be complete.

10.. Start the vehicle to verify that programming was successful.

Keyless FOB programming

I got these instructions from the seller when I bought a new Toyota FOB on ebay.. I was able to program the new fob and the original within minutes in my driveway

01-05 TOYOTA SEQUOIA

Here are the instructions to program the keyless entry remotes for 01-05 Sequoia

1. unlock all of the doors in the car, open the driver's side door, and make sure the key is not in the ignition

2. put the key into the ignition and then pull it out without turning it or anything

3. within 40 seconds, lock and then unlock the doors five times using the power lock button on the driver's side door.

4. close the door and then open it again

5. within 40 seconds lock and then unlock the doors five times again using the power lock button.

6. Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the on position (not acc and not far enough to actually start the engine) and then back to the off position, then back to on and back to off.

7. Pull the key out of the ignition

8. If you are successful, after about 5 seconds, the doors should power lock and then unlock on their own. If that doesn't happen then try again from step 1.

9. within 40 seconds, hold down the lock and unlock button simultaneously on the remote for a second. Then release and hold down the lock button for 3 seconds. The power locks should cycle again once on their own. If they don't cycle exactly once, repeat this step from the beginning with the remote again.

10. Repeat step 9 for every remote you want to program. You have to do this with any remotes that were previously programmed because this process essentially resets what remotes the car will respond to.

11. Close the driver's side door to signify that you are done programming the remotes.

Just as you said. it two times to get it right. I forgot to close the door when I was done. If you do everything right and don't close the door the and press lock the lock will cycle" lock-unlock-lock-unlock". Don't want to lock the keys in the car do we? Once I closed the door after the last 3 second lock step it was all good. Rear Window works also.

Thanks for the exact post.

I also replaced my master key withe the accelerator/brake combo and it was all good

Enjoy<

Is there any way I can get a copy of those instructions? Much appreciated!
Good Morning,

Thanks for the information. I have a different twist on the issue and would appreciate any help on next steps to solve the issue.

I purchased my 2002 Sequioa last week and did not have an issue with using the remote or key to enter the vehicle.

Now I can't lock the door either manually or with the remote. I change the battery and the remote I still can't lock the door when I leave the vehicle. The doors will automatically lock when I put the car in reverse and drive.

I thought I got lucky when I found this post; however, when I implement either of the programming solutions (key or remote) the solutions only works one time. So I have to reprogram the key and/or remote each time I get out of the vehicle to lock my Sequoia.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.
