I have a 2003 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner double cab - 2wd - V6 It has 390,000 miles on motor. Thermostat stuck closed today and it got pretty hot. The gauge was all the way in the red.. It has had a ticking noise in the motor for around 200,000 miles but after it ran hot today it is knocking real bad. I'm no mechanic. I can do the basics from changing oil, starter, alt. Even change trans and other things but I don't know much about the internals of a motor. Does it sound like I need a new motor? If so does anyone know where I can get a good motor pretty cheap? I don't have much money and now am in a bind if you know what I mean...
Thanks ...

Does it sound anything like the engine in this video? My engine was run hot by the previous owner and mine had a knock like this. I replaced the engine with one from a low-miles wrecked 4Runner. The owner of this engine replaced it also. I plan to take my old engine apart to find the source of the knock.
