I just hit 155k and i think my clutch was slipping on the way home last night. I should probably plan to have it replaced before the snow flies but am wondering what clutch i should go with? I have heard the job itself can run you from $1000 to $2000 which is completely ridiculous but what can you do? I have had entire transmissions rebuilt for less than that and the clutch is a consumable part that is designed to be replaced.

Anyway will probably bring it in to get it done at some point. I am wondering if this something you just go to the dealer to do and put in oem parts or should i trust an outside shop to put in what i want?

SHould i stick with OEM or are there better aftermarket clutches i should consider that hold up?

If you have 155k on the original factory clutch, I think that answers your question.

No reason on earth not to go with an aftermarket clutch and an independent shop.

NONE.

Unless you like paying double (or more) to the dealer. Many dealers service consumable parts from local sources. If you do take it to them, make sure what you are actually getting.
