I'm replacing the clutch and doing the axle seals while the trans is out.
I messed up and didn't take note or pics of how far the passenger and driver side axle seals were seated before removing them!
When installing the new seals I drove them in (using PVC pipe that only touches the outer reinforced part of the seal) until they bottomed out which is beyond flush on the passenger side and way beyond flush on drivers side due to housing design.
The haynes manual I have for 03 to 05 corolla says to fully seat the seals.
Can anyone confirm if the seals should be driven all the way in?

Thanks guys, I inserted the axles and there is very little overlap of the axle dust shield, maybe 1mm
I'm thinking the seals are in a few mm too far which may put the seals inner lip pretty close to the edge of the axles machined area where it seals?
Might have to pick up a couple of new seals and start over. Or maybe I'm over thinking this!
