I asked this question on here over a year ago and nobody helped me. Well, she still has the same problem. Never got it fixed.

My wife has an ‘08 4 runner that has a blown amp. I don’t know with 100% certainty it’s the amp, but by process of elimination it pretty much has to be. I’ve looked online (EBay) for used stock amps, but it’s just too much of crap shoot. May as well just buy an aftermarket that I know will work, and most likely last much longer. Not sure how much detail I can give abt her car.

  • it’s not JBL
  • came with a CD player and had no navigation built in.

Links to compatible amps would be great. This is probably an easy thing to figure out but I know nothing about car stereos. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

If I'm not mistaken...you must be referring to the subwoofer, which is located in the back passenger side. Is it blown and what does it sound like?

Now I've replaced the subwoofer on my 2006 4Runner with an aftermarket one after it blew and if I can recall, right in that immediate vicinity and to the front of the subwoofer location...there's the amp. If your amp is shot...that would be where the amp is. Took me less than an hour to remove everything out of the way to get to the subwoofer and to my surprise...the amp was fairly accessible and could be replaced since it was right in that area too. I didn't have issues with my amp, but was able to replace the subwoofer and button everything back up and sound quality was back to original. In fact, the new subwoofer sounded clearer and a lot better than the JBL one.
