'07 Camry........or '02 ES300???

Since I'm itchin' for a new ride, I'm gonna wait 'til the '07 Camry comes out, but I've always had a hankerin' for the previous style ES300's.

I loved 'em from '97 up & the chrome spokes always caught my eye too............then when they went to the white tailight lenses and those awesome directional chrome spokes for the last year, I just fell in love. (Though I could still love the heck out of a pre '02 as well).

So figurin' I could probably pick up an '02 ES300 for like $15K in good shape in a year.

Is it worth spending an extra few $K on a new '07 Camry when they come out???

(P.S. As odd as it sounds, if I did a Camry I'd buy either an regular I-4 or the hybrid).

TIA!

stick with the Gen 6 Camry...
Wait for the gen6 to come out, test drive both cars, and see which one fancies you.
Wait until 08. First years always have few minor bugs. (I am a powertrain engineer, I know.) If you don't mind those little bugs, then go for it.
I would say at least wait til the Gen 6 comes out and see waht you think about them. Like you said you can probably find an ES pretty cheap and you know it will be loaded up pretty good. However what kind of mileage is it going to have and what kind of work will you possibly have to put into it. Granted it seems most of them are fairly well taken care of by the people that own them. IF you want the luxury then go witht eh ES at that point. SInce you know to get a Camry loaded like the ES would be is going to run you almost twice waht you can get the older ES for.

That is kinda long to wait for a vehicle since we are in 2005
Ya, I guess it'd be smartest to wait for the '07 to come & see.

I also understand about the '08 scenario. I have a '98 Camry and love it to death. (It ain't goin' nowhere).

Seeing as it was the 2nd year of the Gen 4 makeover, I know it *could* be smart. That's one of the reasons that makes me think if I did buy an '07 it'd possibly be smarter to buy a regular I-4 seeing as the hybrid will have a lot of new stuff....(possibly new, smaller motor?)......including that continuously variable trans, too.

(Man................so many cars.........so little money!!!)
Do yourself a favor and wait for the 2007 Camry. It's much more advanced(both rigidity and performance); and to me better lookin.

I saw it in a press release somewhere, the Hybrid Gen 6 will be a V6 mated with the electric motor, so the hybrid may have even more HP than the normal V6.

I thoughtit had already been stated the Hybrid would be a I4 with hybrid on top of that. THey are going for more economy than performance like the Honda Accord.

A for it being a long time to wait, it will be unveiled next month and then probably go on sale within the next six months. They have already said it will be released as an early 07 model to help them hold on to the number one selling car title.
