I have an 09 S with the standard antenna. The Satelite reception is fine but the AM/FM reception is terrible. I have seen the old style antennas on other corollas and wondered if anyone had ever swapped to the older version to improve radio reception.

The AM/FM antenna is in the glass on the 2009 Corolla. You'd have to do some modifications to add an antenna outside of the glass.

Perhaps one from a Matrix may work? Not sure.

Gen 9 Corolla reception was crap too (IMHO).

I finally realized that the antenna was in the glass while I was looking at all the little bubbles my tint has in it.

I have given my dealer 3 chances to do the job right and they couldn't pull it off so they authorized me to take it where I wanted and have it done. My buddy told me he needed to put ceramic tint on the back because of it.

I paid for the tinting as part of the purchase price. The three chances I gave them to fix it they did not charge me and gave me a loaner while they tried.
