Got a new fob because I lost the original
Had a 3rd party auto locksmith bring a new key fob (said to be and looks like an OEM key, w/ Toyota serial)
First 5-6 weeks had no issue at all
Began failing when pushing buttons to lock, open sliding door, start car.
Had to put the key against the starter button to get key to start, but was very intermittent
Finally - it seems that the fob battery died. - Like once it died, it stopped trying to send RF signals. Buttons do nothing.
Took at a Batteries Plus shop. Guy said batter was dead. Replaced the battery.
Symptoms still exactly the same as the "dead battery" symptoms above
I noticed that perhaps part of the problem was that I had to push the brake down with a strong force. A gentle push did not activate the switch that connected the "start car" circuit
I'd like to get the fob working to lock / open doors again, and use the prox sensor for car starts.
Anyone have any experience with what the issue is / how it was fixed?
