'15+ XSE/XLE - DRL Bulb Type

855 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  CorollaPants
The above mentioned trims use the vertical light housing for both turn signals and DRL. I understand there's an incandescent bulb for the signals and a seperate LED for the DRL. Someone correct me if I'm wrong about that. Does anyone know what bulb type is used for the LED DRLs?

It's a factory custom LED array, not a replaceable stand alone bulb. Is there something you're trying to accomplish? If you want to match that, you can pull the bumper off your car and replace the light housings on each side, or you can use switchback LED replacement bulbs (easier) to achieve the same appearance.
Thanks for the reply. I Was hoping it might be an easy plug and play situation. I replaced my headlight bulbs and the color temperatures are close but not matching. I figured if it was an easy sawp, I'd go for it.
An easy swap is changing your filament bulb to a switchback white/amber LED. It's not going to look exactly like the factory LED combo light, but many many of us have done this swap and some (myself included) think it looks better. If you are going to do this, you will need to modify in order to prevent a hyper/fast blink situation. Here's a write up on that:
I bought a cheap switchback on ebay for $13, did some wirings, easy install. Been running for months now, don't know how will it last.

Life of car. I hate that on our model year you can't swap out the relay flasher and have to wire in a resistor, but once it's done right, it's solid and those 7443 LED bulbs will last the life of your car.
