I know that this will probably sound a bit crazy, but I have always liked to be a little bit different
Anyhow, back when I was in high school, I had a 1975 Toyota Corona wagon with a 20r in it. Also, the motor had an aftermarket cam, header, and weber downdraft carb. The car was nice and quick with the 4 speed it had in it, and although I didn't really race people all the time or anything, I never did get beat in a stoplight to stoplight type situation hehe. Anyhow, the 75 wagon had a really large engine compartment (for a mid 70's Toyota I mean) and it was pretty quick how it was (it seemed to have pretty low gears since the top speed was about 85mph before it would be screaming like a banshee), but now that I know about the 18RG motors and what they are capable of, I was thinking of maybe getting another one of these and tricking it out a bit. The one I had before ran strong and looked relatively decent, but since I have a real job now and could afford it, I could actually do some stuff like decent paint, some nice big wheels, tinted windows, and some other stuff. I know that it seems pretty easy to stick an 18rg into an older celica, but does anyone know if there would likely be any issues sticking one into a Corona? As I said, the original engines in each were the same, and the engine compartment is bigger than a celicas, so any ideas of any major modifications that would be needed? Also, since the previous one was so low geared, anyone know of another rear end that would be pretty much a bolt in for this car, or would it likely be better to see if it can be custom built with new gearing? Any opinion or help appreciated!
