I'm changing my oil pan gasket soon. As part of the procedure, the FSM says to remove idler arm bracket bolts(this is straightforward) and the motor mount bolts.

Question: are these the bolts that connect the engine mount to the block (four on each side) or are they talking about loosening the one nut (each side) on bolt from the center of the insulator?

If you can get to the bolts on the block it will be more effective due to the angle of the mount. Naturally you will have to support the engine.

Thanks. 71Corolla

Yes, I can get to the bolts on the engine. And, looking at the big bolt (and nut) on the insulator, it would be more difficult to get that back together due to the angle. New bolts are apparently still available (four different types), so I'll change those out also.
