Hello, I’ve got a 1983 Corona with the 1.9L star fire engine and ever since owning I’ve always had trouble with the carburettor. I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ll just buy another to end the hassles. I’ve been looking online for a new or refurbished one that will fit but I’m not sure what type will fit. I’ve been told the one on now is a Nikki and it’s a double barrel. If anyone knows of a carb that would fit it would be greatly appreciated. Obviously one that’s not expensive as I’ve been told there is a Webber carb that would fit but not keen on spending that much money on one! Thanks guys!!

I had a 1981 Corona with a 22R, and 1982 was the last year for Coronas inthe US.
I'm guessing you're in Australia or NZ? I can't find anything on a 1.9L starfire, any chance your Corona is Holden based?

More importantly, any pics ??
of the car and engine and carb

its a T130 and the engine came from holden: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Corona#Sixth_generation_(T130;_1978–1983)

engine pics: https://www.google.com/search?q=1.9L+star+fire+engine&safe=off&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj-9cDGgu3ZAhUJeKwKHRIHCQ4Q_AUICigB&biw=1400&bih=730#imgrc=uXjyG4kFtr912M:

it looks a lot like the very old Toyota 12R..... only 1.9L instead of 1.6L.... you can try and look for the more popular carbs there. if you have weber 32/36, dual barrel ones or the Solex or Aisin if these are common there OR whatever carb you can buy new that fits the intake manifold without modding the carb base.

Thanks for the reply, yes im in Australia and it’s a Holden based motor. As for the 12R carby I thought the same but they are
Manual choke and mines an automatic choke. I’m not hugely educated on carbs so I’m really not to sure

That's neat. If the foot print and bolt pattern are the same, you might be able to make that 12R carb work. You can add a cable operated manual choke control.
