1985 Pickup Coil/Igniter

Alright, I have a 1985 22r Toyota Pickup. We are thinking the coil is bad and needs to be replaced. I found an 1985 Coil/Ignitor for a 22re engine on ebay. The picture from ebay looks like the igniter/coil from my dads 1990 22re Toyota 4x4 pickup. Will the 22re coil work with the 22r engine?

Thanks,
Sprizz

If it looks like your old one and the plugs are the same, then it will work.
Ask for a part number and compare it. the pickup coil in the distributor could also be the problem.
Yeah...
They dont look the same, thats why im asking
I don't know if they will work, you will have to see resistance specs and pin configuration of the plug and compare them, that technical data can be acquired from the FSM (factory service manual) download links:

take the part # of the coil/igniter assembly from yours and Google it to find out what other years of 4-Runner/pikup share the same one,you can also get the part # from the free Toyota EPC catalogs below and use it's cross reference feature to find out what other years use it:

If the coil is bad, you can replace it with almost any generic coil. Most auto parts stores will carry a replacement.

The 22RE coil will work.

The ignitors do NOT interchange between 22R and 22RE, as far as I know. Timing on the 22RE is ECU controlled.
Do you have a round or square coil?
