A small cold chisel against the pinion - struck, while pressure on the pry bar applied levering against the differential housing did the trick.It's out and the car is back on the road.

Just in case any of the "Experts" reading this run into the same problem.

I have popped a lot of these out with just a large screwdriver and hope I do not run into this again with rebuilt factory driveshafts.:)
