hello

i have a 1990 22re with a 4 speed manual transmission.. i am trying to find out what tranmission i have , what # and how much gear oil it holds ..

please let me know

Likely just GL-4 Gear lube. You fill till it just starts weeping out of filler hole in tranny.

u sure its a 4 speed and notta 5 speed?

If its 4wd its gunna be a w56 or a g58.

look on the sticker in your driver door jam for either of those sets of numbers. its listed at the bottom.

i think 83 was the last year of the 4 spd..some one must have swapped in the 4 spd..23 mpg that killer..i get 18 on my 92 4x4

W46 sounds right, Should use 75w90 GL-4 for best performance. I think it holds 4 or 5 pints if it is a 2wd.

Redline MT90 works good in these transmissions.

The 4spd really works well with the 22re. Mine was a real oddity. Mine was a 1990 4spd 22r 4wd. I remember back in 94 I took it into the Toyota dealership to get something done and all the Toyota tech were totally stumped with this setup. They never saw it before and it didnt even pull up in their system at the time. Their conclusion was that it was special ordered that way. Wish I never got rid of that truck. 4spd with 4wd was pretty sick.
