All lights on dash work except those that are connected to dimmer switch, climate controls, and back lighting on gauge cluster. Replaced all bulbs, not the issue (didn't think it was but worth a try). Could it be a bad dimmer switch or would it more likely be a problem in the wiring. How involved is it to get the switch out to replace it? Any suggestions would be great. It's a 1990 camry wagon.

Hi there

If the wiring connector (2 wire) has been disconnected (and they can be crafty, like they will look like theyre in and theyre not, or only have connected to one connector, take it off and put it back on to double-check) from the rear of the dimmer switch then the lights will not work, I would check this first. If it seems that the switch is bad, take the connecter off the back and short the wire terminals together, this should make the lamps come on at full intensity when the headlights are switched on. The switch is not very difficult to remove and replace, simply means taking off the lower dash panel. Hope this helps.
