I am just wondering if any one has ideas about what other engines/transmissions will fit into the 1992 Camry V6 XLE chassis?

Here is the deal:
I had this car for years, now and I love driving it every day. So far it treated me realy well reliability wise. However it does have 211,000 miles on the original 3.0L engine and automatic transmission, and one of these days I might have to replace them. So I figure that I might as well know my options before it happens so I can be more prepared when it does.

So if any one has any info on the following topics I would love to know.
1. What years Camry V6 will fit into my car? (is it 1992-1996, or is it possible to get the '04 3.3L in there)

2. Will any other engines fit? (Maybe GS300, IS300, Supra, LS400), and if so what modifications might be required?

3. What transmissions will fit? Is it just 1992-1996 or could some of the newer ones work?

4. Is there any way to craft a manual transmission to the current V6 engine? This is just my day dream, but it would be nice to have some manual shifting in my vehicle.

Though it is an option, I would prefer not to rebuild the current components but instead replace them with something newer (where possible).

Thanks in advance,

Gene

1) Any 3vz, 1mz, or 3mz will "fit" in the bay.
2) Like any car, if you're willing to start custom fabbing you can fit anything in the bay that physically fits in the bay... You also need to wire the engine to your ecu, or get a new ECU depending on the swap
3) Same case as the engine. Many Toyota Tranny's will bolt to different Toyota engine's.
4) Yes, same answer as above.

Ok the 92-93 camry v6 is called a 3vz-fe, it uses the a540 series (automatic) transmission. You can swap a manual but you will need some things from the donor car, the pedals, transmission, clutch, flywheel, master and slave cylinders, and a few other assorted goodies i can't remember. As for swapping in an IS300 or Supra engine that engine is called a 2jzge or 2jzgte for the Supra turbo and will cost about 5 times what the car is worth just to get the engine to fit. The car is front wheen drive right now and the IS and Supra are rear wheel drive so you will have to comepletly rework the underside of the car, come up with a suspension system, and do lots of fun stuff to the body to make sure it holds up :)

What can fit?

Anything if your willing to do the work. It's all up to you. If you have the money and the time, anything can be dropped in.
