I have a question regarding the clutch in my Camry.
At low speeds, the car can tend to "buck" back and forth, almost bouncy but not vertically, its horizontally.
It mainly does is while doing about 15 in a parking lot. It also Tends to have a clicking noise almost like two pennies being slapped together 'clicking' in sync with the bucking motion.
from a dead stop it produces a small "Thud" that sounded like worn CV axles but they were changed with documents about 2k miles ago and look just fine.
It will do this from a dead stop usually first or reverse, and it will also do it when doing 35 and you let off the gas to engine brake, and then again when you press the accelerator.
Curious, I called my trusted mechanic, and he told me to first check the motor mounts. When i got home I popped the hood and placed the car in gear and had a buddy help me rock the car back and forth and from inside the bell housing I heard the mysterious noise when the car would almost reach the end of the "free roll" then it would click stop and bounce the other direction, only to do the exact same thing. I was thinking that maybe it could be the Pre-damper being worn. but wanted to get some opinions. Its Surely Coming from the bell housing. the motor mounts are looking great, no leakage and the whole engine only moved about 3/16 of an inch when rocking. That's with a not so good dog bone (torque strut) mount that I will be replacing.
Thank you!
