i have a 1993 22re toyota pickup extended cab i lifted and when doing so i dont remeber why but i had to swap front differentials and i dont remember what differential i used the one outta my 1989 22re regular pickup or the one outta the 1991 v6 extended cab i parted out. anyway my problem is that i just was in my backyard and it put it in 4-low and in 1st just let the clutch out and had it creep on idle and when it moves about 2ft the truck will stop moving and just lock up tight untill i put it in reverse and back up the 2ft and same goes in revers if i move 2ft it will stop moving, i noticed if the hubs are locked and im not in 4 wheel it moves but the second i put it in 4 wheel i can move about 2ft and it will lock up. please help does that mean the front diff i put in has a different ratio?

It takes about 2ft for the hubs to lock and unlock on some trucks...
It sounds to me like your Front Diff is locked up and not moving.... that or the front part of the transfer case but that seems less likely.

Put it in the air in neutral lock the hubs and see if you can turn it by hand, then drop the front drive shaft and try again... this will tell you which item is binding up.

If the front diff is different gearing it could bind it up this way. be very careful!

if i have the truck in the air in and the 4wd shifter set to netural and spin a tire the front drivshaft spins. if i have it in 4-low and spin a tire the front driveshaft does not move only the other tire
