1997 Tercel noise at rear of car

I have a problem I haven't heard of before. At about 65 mph there is a loud noise at the rear of the car. It is low pitched sound like two pieces of thick metal being banged together. It just does it one or two times. The wheels are straight and balanced. Good tires also. It looks like the only thing that heavy is the axle. Could something be loose in it?

Wheel bearing? Get a free break check up ...alot of shops do them and have it looked at.
