As the subject states,

My wife has a 1998 Camry I-4 2.2L with 120k miles. Not too long ago, the timing belt began flapping and block began dripping oil in the garage (nearly driving me crazy) 2 weekends ago Spark Plugs, SP-Wires, Timing/Serp/Power-Steering belts were changed.

It now runs strong, however is still leaking a significant amount of oil. It appears to be coming from the top/right of the block, somewhere below the spark plug coils. What are the first spots I should check for leakage with the I-4 2.2L engine?? I've got a replacement valve cover gasket on the way, so that one will be covered.

Thanks!

If you can bring up p. 30 of the I4 Mechanical Section ... Online Repair Manual, there is a part in the location which you specify ... Oil Pressure Switch ... Maybe if you can take a picture...

If you are looking at the engine from the front of the car, it is the back right section. From the PDF, I believe the oil pressure switch is located on the front side to the right of the exhaust shield? What are the other possible gaskets which have tendencies to leak?

Thanks,

CamryMan-

Thanks for the pic-- The leak area is in that exact same area, however it is on the back side (facing the firewall). I think it may be a slight leak in the valve cover gasket which is slowly but surely making it's way down to the ground. I've got a replacement gasket on the way, so I'll report back!

On a similar subject, anyone know the best solvent to clean oil off the outside of a block?
