back over to OEM oil filters, the problem I have now is that my oil filter wrench slips off of these filters, I’ve tried strap wrenches and the angle that that oil filter is at underneath the manifold is very hard to get out, anybody have this problem or have suggestions? The placement of this filter seems to limit my options

I found that this worked well on my T100.

I use a strap wrench, and it works fine. One like this. The square tube makes for an extension for my half inch drive ratchet.

I've only used two tools when removing oil filter canisters and if my arm is scratched, then it is scratched. If my arm is burned, then it is burned. Shove it in there and filter out!

I had a similar problem when I did the first oil change on my car. Morons had over tightened the filter (probably dry gasket) and I couldn't get it off. Tried a strap wrench, tried an oil filter wrench but the filter wouldn't budge. Drove to Pep Boys and got a oil filter cap wrench that attaches to my 3/8" ratchet. One turn on the ratchet and the filter turns and comes out easily. If all else fails an oil filter cap wrench is your best bet.

Got the same two oil filter removal tools in my tool box. The 3-jaw adjustable plus a 4" extension+ratchet is what I use on my Avalon.

Also this is what I use. Works fine with Motorcraft FL400S filter (or the shorter PL10241 types) if you allow the manifold to cool and go under it to get at the filter.

The pliers one works well on smaller diameter filters (4-cyl). I should give the 3-jaw a try.
