2000 Avalon XL audio questions
I want to get aftermarket speakers and head unit for my car.
I bought the vehicle about 3 months ago off a guy.
I recently purchased a system (2 300w kickers comp "12 and a 1,000w amp.)
Trunk is Dynomatted.
They are fine, I just want to get the most out of it by getting a new head unit and speakers.
Problem is, Im new to cars and audio so I'm not so sure what to get.
What are the speaker sizes in my car?
any suggestions on a HU and speakers/tweeters?
How many watts should they be to get the maximum power out of my set up?
Also, should I get a new battery?
Not sure how much volts it currently is or anything but is it worth it?
Any help is much appreciated.

- Front doors w/ JBL system is 5.25"
- Purchase an AGM Battery (I have a Die Hard Platinum from Sears)
- Upgrade Power Cables to either 0 or 2 Gauge (A.K.A. Big 3)
- Strongly consider a High Output Alternator. The Denzo type OEM/Stock is 80 Amps - Look for 140 or higher.

Front doors with the JBL system are NOT 5.25". They are in fact slightly larger than the typical 6.5" opening. I installed a new pair of Focal 6.5's in mine this past weekend.

Each rear door houses a 3.5" full range driver. Honestly I put a high pass cap on them and left em in.

Not sure ho
I know its been a decade, but if youre still curious, I did car audio for a living temporarily, and my personal project car is a 2000 avalon xls. Have a Kenwood DDX396, CT Sounds Meso 12'' 1500 w rms subwoofer in a 1.25 ft^3 ported enclosure with 2 x 125 w rms ct sounds meso 6.5" 3 way speakers. I also did the big 3 and am running 2 seperate amps rn, Polk PA660 2 channels bridged and a skar rp1200.d, but i regularly change amps out and have had much better amps in the past

A little late to the post but i replaced the entire audio system including head unit and new speakers and adding a sub-woofer. The biggest thing i can recommend is installing the alternator from a 2001 to 2003 highlander with the 3.0 they had an optional higher output alternator rated at 130 amps i have that on my 2000 Toyota Avalon. And i would also recommend bypassing the stock amplifier as it was way louder using the head unit to power the new door speakers.

That was the same path I took... the highlander alt is sitting in my trunk along with a 14, 12, and 10 mm socket in case my ebay alt gives out. Its been 3 years and its still going strong (250 amps). I removed the stock amp all together and ran my own 12-16 awg wiring depending on the location of the speakers.

Currently, I am having a coworker who has 15 years experience building fiberglass airplane parts teach me so I can build A-Pillar Speaker pods for my 3-way front set.

I removed the rears and never looked back. may eventually run a bandpass misbass speaker of some sort, but thats it.
