2000 Corolla spark plugs

1378 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  koreywill
I recently bought a used 2000 Corolla with 84K on the odometer. I've changed fluids and am now wanting to change spark plugs. Manual calls for NGK IFR5A11 plugs which my local parts dealer (O'Reilly's) doesn't carry. Went on line to find them and no one else seems to carry them either. Was this a one off part or proprietary to Toyota? Any suggestions on where to buy?

Thanks,

Call dealer for price first. Then check these sites and see if they can beat it

Those are interesting plugs, they are iridium center electrode and platinum ground...sorta like double platinums but with iridium center instead.
I thought the service inteval for those was 100000+ miles.... If the gap is correct and the electrodes look decent just put them back :D

If it turns out that the dealer wants a ridiculous ammount for them, just cross refer to another brand like Denso, or another NGK product. Just because that is what they recommend, doesn't mean you can't put something else in there.
Yup, Dealership plugs are always denso, because thats toyotas OEM supplier.
Check AutoZone. I have bought plugs for my older Toyota there. They carry NGK or Denso can't remember which. They may not carry same number but probably have a substitute.
Just wanted to thank everyone that replied in such a quick fashion. Got new plugs and the car runs great.
