My Parents 2000 avalon won't start.. 145,000 miles. 3.0 vvti v6.. they were coming home yesturday and coming up their driveway the engine light came on, My mother looked down and saw the temp was pegged, Pulled it in the driveway and shut it off.. Went over and looked at it for them and found the Radiator upper tube had busted off.. Easy fix right? well I thought I better start it up first to see if it had blown the head gaskets or something but it just cranks.. I pulled one of the coil caps and did the old screwdriver trick to see if it was getting any spark but nothing.. And I did a compression check on one cylinder and it was 183psi.. Did not check the rest of the cylinders yet since it apears there is no spark anyways..

Is there any resets with this engine control system? I did pull the negative cable over night to let the computer reset but nothing different...

Also where is a good resource for a factory PDF manual?

Update

Hi, just noticed your post of last month, and I was interested if you were able to determine/correct why your parents 2000 Avalon would not start after overheating. I have the same car with 158K and was not clear on exactly what broke, and if you have made any progress with it.
Thanks
