At around 75k miles my A/C compressor started making a high-pitched squeal when the clutch was engaged. I didn’t think much of it other than I must have a belt pulley problem. Toyota doesn’t usually have A/C problems on a 3 year old car. I was wrong. The mechanic at the dealer told me that when the A/C clutch is engaged there is a noticeable wobbling of the clutch, and that I only have a few months to go before the compressor goes out… a job that will cost $1250 to repair. Toyota Motor needs to get something straight. People pay thousands more to purchase their products over American because they are promised a trouble-free experience. Since buying the Tacoma I’ve had problems with the dash board rattling, the 5 speed shifter slipping out of gear when driving, and now one of the most expensive to repair: the A/C system. All of these problems came up only a few thousand miles after the warranty expired. After all these repairs I must say that Toyota has sold me a flimsy product.
