We recently purchased a 2001 Celica GT with a blown engine. We have replaced several engines in these Celica's before and had no problem. This Celica has DC headers, Injen intake, and Wesco pistons on it. We put the engine in and turned it over, the only way it would actually start was to give it some throttle while turning it over. It will start and run like absolute **** (shaking the car from such a rough idle). If you rev it up, it will cut out, spit and sputter, then once it manages to get to higher RPM's it runs pretty good, but only at high RPM's. Once you let off the gas it runs rough again. So we figured the vacuum lines could be hooked up incorrectly from thr past owner, and we switched a few around, and it made no difference on the idle. This is when we noticed one of the connectors (according to ALLDATA is an intake sensor) has nothing to plug into because of the aftermarket intake. So we kept the car running, revving it up and giving it time to adjust, it seems to get a bit better but is not running like it should be. (We have replaced the injectors, fuel rail, coil packs, new plugs, and a new air filter.) So, does anyone have any idea what this could be?
Here are a couple pics of my intake area....
