Hi there !

I was wondering if a 4A-GE swap is difficult on a 2001 Toyota Corolla 1ZZ-FE.

Is there any existing threads on the subject ? Do you have a video about it, a website, etc.

Thank you ! Max.

I don't want the swap to be done by someone else !

I want to know if this is an easy swap or not.

You would literally be looking at over 2000 dollars easy for a swap that makes a whopping 40 more horsepower that has to be revved high to get to anyway. There are plenty of things you can do to the 1ZZFE to get you more power for less money. One guy had a turbo 1ZZ making close to 300HP.

Wouldn't the engine mounts be different?
yeah some of the mounts would be different, but you would be using the mounts from the 20V trans. those should bolt in. if not you may need the trans cross brace from a 7th gen, as well as the drivers side engine mount from the 7th gen. most of the holes should be there. cheaper end would be around $1500 if you already had 5 speed and what not. realistically if you sourcing everything and paying someone for wiring, you'll be closer to $3500. if you paid someone to to the complete swap you're talking $5k minimum which at that point i'd look at a 2zz.....

Do you think it's wise to upgrade the engine internals (forged connecting rods, better c rod and crank bearings, forged sleeve, balanced crankshaft, higher lift and duration camshaft, etc) and then turbo-ing the 1ZZ-FE ?

What about the stock fuel pump and injectors ? What about the stock MAF and ECM ?

Thanks.
