My machanic replaced the seal on my 2001 Rav4 oil pan and now the dip stick does not resister the oil amount. I have double checked with the Toyoto dealer and the dip stick is the right one. Anyone ever run across this problem. Yes the oil was put in the right place and I watched him put in the correct amount.

Ockams razor...The simplest explaination tends to be the correct one.

You have no oil ! If you have just had the seal replaced, then of course the very first thing to suspect is the seal.

Place a suitable container under the car and remove the drain plug. I bet you wont get any oil come out.

He would not be the first mechanic to do something wrong.
