Hello Everyone. 01 tundra truck, new alternator. New battery, sometimes truck will start ok, most of time just click, click.
If we have a jump from a helpful person, starts everytime, we do carry around a jumper box,

Any suggestions why??

Starter solenoid in fuse block inside engine compartment would that be a possibilty??

Volt meter shows 12.7 volts.

New battery from autozone.

Its like just a few extra volts allows it to start with the jump

Please advise.

Which motor? Could need new brushes or plunger in the starter motor(contacts depending on motor) .
What condition are the battery cables in?
Check the ground cable, both ends. what's the voltage at the battery via a multi-meter?
Possible internal corrsion of the cables increases resistance that the small extra jolt of a jump maybe enough.

Good Day All, In the fuse box, there is a blue relay called a starter relay, being of sound mind and body, i took it apart to find a nasty looking carbon build up of funk on the "points contact" , probably could of cleaned it, but off to the local parts store, bought new relay 30 dollars, My beloved truck starts just fine now.

hope this helps someone else.
