Hi Toyota Nation. Did a google search on my problems and wound up here. I used a Scanner to get the codes in the title
My Actron Auto Scanner says the following.
P0440: Evaporative Emission System.
P0441: Evaporative Emission System incorrect purge flow.
P0446: Evaporative Emission System Vent Control Circuit.
I purchased this vehicle in October of 2015 and have put about 30k on it. It had 230k when purchased. The vehicle was just serviced prior to purchase. New Timing Belt, Water pump, T stat, Coolant Flush, Brakes, Tires, Transmission flush filter change and fill, Oil and Oil Filter Change. I'm trying to remember if there was any thing else done prior to purchase. I changed the battery about two months ago.
The Car was fine no problems and with in a day or so the P0440 light went off. I googled it and I saw people saying it could be many different things ranging from Evap Canister, some kind of valve in the gas tank, A vacuum hose leak and so on.
Over the course of a few months after purchasing the vehicle I noticed it started not wanting to shift normally when the vehicle was cold. It would hold on to second gear for way to long and not shift out of second gear until a specific distance had been traveled " I was thinking long enough to warm it up" or I would have to accelerate quite a bit to get it to shift into 3rd gear. I normally would not push a car hard when it's cold like that but some times I have too in order to get it to shift into 3rd gear and start working correctly.
Following all of the above some time between May and June the car started making a whine/whistling noise like there is an air leak somewhere. it only does this at low rpms ranging from 1100 RPM's to about 1800+ RPM's
I'm not sure if the evap is related to the transmission or if it even could be just figured I would give as mush information as possible to what I know about my Camry. The car is due for a smog test " CA " mid December of this year so I still have some time left to try and fix the problem. I'm hoping some one here can point me into the right direction of what to look for first and how to test. This is my family car used to transport wife and kids daily to work and school.
Thank you,
Tony
