when i bought my 02 camry 4cyl last month, one foglight cover was missing, so i decide to fill the hole with a pair of foglight, looked at oem, but then decided to go with aftermarket for $43 shipped on ebay.


done plenty of research to see how other TN people is being done
some people called for foglight relay and headlight stalk
some said relay is already there.

here is the true on my vehicle, Japanese built, prewire with foglight harness, has a foglight precut hole, so i don't know if any TMMK camry without precut hole might have the foglight harness or relay.

so in summary

i installed the OEM style aftermarket foglight that i bought from ebay
didn't run any individual wire or relay for the foglight,
use the aftermarket push on/off switch, tap to oem foglight switch wire at healight switch connector.
the whole installation was really painless, not that i can't run a brand new wire from battery for foglight, but there are already too many wires, and there is already one pre-wire for foglight, only missing the foglight itself and foglight switch.

thanks for all other people who previous post gen 5 foglight installation pictures and procedures on TN.

the only thing didn't work is the aftermarket push switch light indicator, but i don't feel like mess around with it, don't know the voltage or polarity at the oem foglight switch wire at the stalk, since it just only mention being continutity.

the aftermarket foglight kit comes with these plastic sh!t, i don't think it will hold the foglight well in the hole, so i cut a piece of aluminum and drilled a hole, using it as a big washer, now i feel more secure without worry about foglight falling off on highway.

i might have put the push switch upside down, but it is ok, no one going to see it anyway.

i didn't cut the oem headlight stalk wire by pin #10 and #11,
i just use a razer, scrape off the skin, and tap the aftermarket switch wire to those two wires
those two wires very thin though.i think they are awg 22.

i couldn't find my t-tap connector, so i just strip the skin of those two wires..
you can short those two wires will make the foglight turn on when the headlight is on.
seperate those two wires to turn off foglight.

however, i did cut my aftermarket push switch wires so i can tab to the oem foglight switch wire if that is wut you mean.

i also found a good condition xle oem foglights on craiglist for $50, but no switch,
so i went with aftermarket foglight with push switch. i like the push switch, it is my 2nd choice, can't afford my first choice, oem headlight stalk.

where did you look?
when i short the pin #10 and #11 with headlight on, i can hear the foglight relay clicks
but i don't really care where toyota hide them.

it is right behind the fuse box under the coin try.

has anyone also look at gen6 with prewired foglight harness?
i was reading the gen6 factory service manual, LIGHTING, page LI-120, saying the HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH by the steering wheel, pin #3(LFG) and #4 (BFG) is for foglight on and off.

if that is the case, anyone who trying to install the foglight probably don't have to run additional wire from engine compartment, just simply tab the ON/OFF switch to pin#3 and #4.

I have a 2003 US-built camry w/o factory installed fog lights. While replacing the front bumper cover I noticed the fog light harness is there and began investigating doing this installation, because the company I ordered the bumper cover from sent me the wrong one - with the fog light cutouts - and I find the prospect of installing lights less painful than exchanging the bumper cover.

So I first decided to determine if I have a relay by removing the steering column trim and shorting the indicated pins to see if I get the 'click' in the dash or not. What I found is that the wiring for the headlight stalk on mine does not match the wiring pictured above for the 2002 Japan-built Camry. I've got a silver wire and a red/yellow stripe wire where you show a tan and a red wire.

Does anyone have a diagram for the headlight dimmer switch assembly for the 2003 US Camry?

Another question for bronzemaxell - which ebay merchant did you purchase your set from and did it come with a relay?

I used to have aftermarket fogs hooked up to a switch. Later, I bought a gen 5.5 bumper and upgraded to OEM fogs with OEM dimmer switch.

IMO, its much better to use the OEM dimmer switch then wire it to a separate switch. When I had them on a switch, a lot of the time I would forget to turn them off when I parked and ended up draining the battery. Plus, its nice when they turn on automatically with your low beams instead of having to press a button when you want them on.

I found a used switch at a junkyard for $30. Saved a lot of trouble.

i think the color of the wiring is the same, it is possible my crappy camera with flash light on showing slightly off color because headlight stalk for 2002 to 2006 are interchangeable,
it is pin #10 and #11 on the harness connector.

i think gen 3 and gen4 headlight stalk are not interchangeable with gen 5, but i am not 100% sure,

ebay sells aftermarket gen5 foglight kit with its own relay and on/off switch, everything is included for installation.

Did you connect wire #10 + 11 + positive wire from the switch together? What did you do with the negative wire and the ground?

sorry for the confusion
i don't know pin #10 and #11 are positive or negative, but i don't connect pin #10 and #11 to any external positive or negative source. i just join #10 and #11 together, with headlight on, the foglight relay should click and foglight should be on if there is one connected to the prewired foglight harness.

the factory service manual said check for continuity between pin #10 and #11
if your vehicle is equip with existing foglight harness connector hidden in the bumper foam, that mean your vehicle was prewired for factory foglight, but just physical foglight and headlight stalk with foglight on/off on the left of your steering wheel was never installed.

by doing this way, you don't have to run separate (extra) positive power and negative wire for fog light from battery or from engine bay through firewall to inside under the dash.

just connect #10 and #11 to a rocker on/off switch as a foglight on/off switch, you are done
and don't have to worry about draining the battery because oem harness was design so that foglight will only be on with headlight low beam on.

i am using the ls430 projector with ls430 shroud, notice there is a bowl below each ls430 projector to throw further more light to the side, making it become the widest beam pattern hid projector.
