I searched and found a few recommendations. Wondering if any has worked. When cold the engine makes a rattling noise. Stops after a minute or two of warmup. Suggested were timing belt, tensioner, sproket problem. Low power steering fluid. Water pump going. My RAV 4 has 62,000 miles.

Thanks

Would need diagnostic to figure it out exactly but typically on sold starts the oil needs to work its way to the top of the head and lubricate all the valvetrain, until this happens the metal is hitting metal and that is the sound you are probably hearing.

A valve adjustment may be in order depending on oil change schedules and wear, if your feeling like a mechanic then you can take the valve cover off and measure the clearance (specs are inside your hood)

This started happening a few years ago BTW. I change the oil every 6 months as I drive the car about 6k per year.

I'll add the valve adjustment to my list for my mechanic to look at.

Thank you
