I have an engine light on, and when I check it, it is PO 440 and specifically 441 and 446. I have done research and know it's evaporative emissions system and specially the purge flow and the vent control circuit. Any of you had this problem? I can't afford the mechanic charge and I'm not much of a mechanic. Any help on finding these items and fixing them on my truck would be appreciated. Btw, I bought a new gas cap, and it isn't that.

If you put an aftermarket gas cap on it you will get that code still, you need to replace the cap with a Toyota OEM cap and see if that fixes it
Thanks, I did order one from Toyota and put it on. I reset the light, and I'm now waiting to see if the light comes back on. The truck is now over 20 years old so my county doesn't require an emissions test, but I hate that light. Thanks for your help.

Yes I have one that's 20 yrs old to and we don't have emissions either. Pls post if this fixed your issue. This is a very well known issue with Toyota and aftermarket gas caps. If it doesn't fix it I would prob look into your o2 sensors next, Toyo replacements only there to.

The light came back on as I feared, and it seems to be either the purge flow or the vent control circuit. About a year ago, I had a problem with a sensor and a mechanic charged me over $300. I looked at the motor, and I'm not sure where the purge flow or vent control is. I have a Haynes online book for my truck, but it's not very clear. Any other manuals that you or anyone would recommend. Wish I had a smoke machine. Thanks.
