Hello all...

I'm new to the site as you can see from my post count..
so I am planning on getting a 2002 Tacoma, TRD package, fully loaded with about 30k miles for a great price (about 14k) from a good friend... any issues you guys/gals feel I should be looking for?

I have heard nothing but great things about Tacoma's. However from the search on this forum I noticed a dash noise.. any other things I should look for when i get this truck?
BTW: The truck has always been babied, all the maintenance done by the dealership and in outstanding condition, don’t even think he has ever put anything in the bed. The truck is fully loaded SR5 and stick

My 99 Tacoma sounds good rattle wise and it is in good condition. I would recommend you get that 2002 Tacoma. I ended up buying my 99 for around that price, and I am beginning to think i got hosed.

But I did get a good truck.

Buy it, your getting a great price. I havent had a any problems or rattles at all in my 04. Good luck.

I've had a bit of a dash rattle in my 2000, but it's barely noticable and only happens every month or so...other than that, you're getting a great truck for what seems like an even better price!

GET IT!

First off, $14 is a steal for an 02 with only 30k on it. I've got an 02 as well, and really, I love mine. I've put a lot of highway miles on it since I bought it two years ago, and I've got some mild off road use too. I've used it for countless moves and towes, and it still runs great (65k).

I've had no issues with the engine, other than finding myself wanting that TRD Supercharger. I read that previous post, and I agree, there is an occasional rattle inside from the dash, but a soft push solves that for a while.

And what truck can beat the looks of the Tacoma? Every time I walk out to drive my truck, I love it. I've never regretted getting it.

dash rattle

I have an 02 TRD tacoma. I only get the dash rattle when the truck is cold, then it goes away. I read somewhere that it can be fixed with foam at the front of the dash.

I have an 02 TRD as well with 43,000 mile on it. I haven't developed the dash rattle most speak of as yet. Don't know what's going on with that and hope it doesn't happen to me. I did have a screw fall out from some place and hit me in the leg as I was driving the other day. I can't figure out why it was there in the first place and haven't had time to look and see where it came from yet. Maybe it was put there at the factory by one of the workers as a joke? Some people get their jollies in different ways.. just guessing here. To my knowledge the dash hasn't been taken apart that I know of. I'm completely happy with my Taco and would buy another one in a heartbeat.
